This is why it\u00b4s so important in exercise. Carnitine also increases energy levels, helps reduce body fat tissue, promotes oxygen uptake and energy production.<\/p>\n<p>Carnitine acts as a transporter or shuttle system for long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane to increase energy production through lipid breakdown.<\/p>\n<p>For sports performance, the positive benefits of carnitine supplementation are tremendous. Performance depends on the body&#8217;s ability to produce energy and since fat is the main source of energy in muscle, it means that if you can increase fat oxidation, your body will increase energy levels, as well as reduce body fat.<\/p>\n<p>In athletes, carnitine significantly increases oxygen uptake and energy production. Supplements administered before physical exertion reduce the formation of lactic acid (muscle aches).
